Nigel Keitley
Chair
Previously Manager of the Plymouth ODP Training and Assessment Centre, Nigel is now a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Health and Social Work in Plymouth University. He qualified as an ODA in 1980 but left the clinical area in 1987 to become Course Co-ordinator at the Wolverhampton ODA Training School which subsequently merged with the Birmingham Centre. Nigel's interests are in the provision of quality education, training and assessment for all ODP students nationally and is a keen advocate of openness within the organisation.
Nigel has served on the PROPRIUS Committee since the organisation’s inception in 1993, having previously been a member of its predecessor organisation NATSCODA

Jean Hinton
Business Manager
Jean is a Senior Lecturer in ODP education at Edge Hill College in Manchester. Formerly, Jean had spent thirteen years working within the peri-operative area with six years experience in ODP training, holding responsibility for all pre- and post-registration training at her Trust for approximately five years. Jean holds a BA (Hons) degree in Peri-operative Practice and is currently reading for a PGCE. Her professional interests lie in the development of ODP Diploma programmes and the opportunities to be afforded to current ODPs and nurses.
Jean was elected to the Committee in 2000 and is currently the Business Manager.

Ian Wray
Officer
Ian is a Lead ODP and Practice Facilitator in Theatres within Glan Clwyd Hospital situated near Rhyl in North Wales. He qualified in 1986 completing his training with the Liverpool school based in Fazackerly Hospital at that time. In 1990 he completed his City & guilds 730 Certificate in Education, thus becoming more involved with all students that passed through our Theatres. In 1998 Ian took on the role of Local Assessment Co-ordinator which has now developed into his current role of Practice Facilitator.
Ian was elected to Committee in 2005.

Arwel Jones
Officer
Arwel is Senior RODP and Practice Facilitator in Theatres in Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor. He qualified in 1985 through the School for Operating Department Assistants in Cardiff, with practical experience gained in Bangor. Promoted to Senior ODA in June 1988 and given the responsibility for training, Arwel became the Supervising Officer for candidates of the City & Guilds 752 award. His role changed slightly with the advent of the NVQ3 in Operating Department Practice, and he became the Local Assessment Co-ordinator for his hospital. Arwel served on Steerin Groups, LAC Committees and the Dip HE Development Group, all as part of the Centre of Operating Department Practice in the School of Healthcare Studies in Cardiff. Throughout this time he plied his trade at Ysbyty Gwynedd, and still does.
In 2001 politics intervened, and the world saw the birth of the ODP Dip HE Training Programme based at the University of Wales Bangor. This new training centre serves three North Wales NHS Trusts, and although a relatively new centre we have enjoyed success, with the full-time ODP cohorts, and post-graduate courses in Anaesthesia and Surgical patient care. Arwel was elected to PROPRIUS committee in 2004.

Patricia Richardson
Conference Administrator
Tricia is the ODP Programme Leader at the University of Teesside based in the School of Health & Social Care. She had many years experience as a theatre nurse, before moving into her current post in 1999/2000. Her professional interests include the development of a post-grad degree and surgical first assistants programmes.
Trish was elected to the PROPRIUS Committee in 2001.

Beryl Murray
Officer
Beryl's present position is as Theatre Sister/Principal ODP, and Clinical Co-ordinator for the ODP Diploma students, at the University Hospital of North Tees.
Beryl qualified in 1980 and went directly into theatre work. Due to her interest in training and development of staff within the department, she completed her D32, D33 and D34, before progressing onto the City and Guilds 7306 and Certificate in Education.
Beryl became the ODP Clinical Co-ordinator in 2001 and, as a result of undertaking this role, felt the need to have a greater understanding of how students felt during their training. So to achieve this, and gain a nationally recognised qualification she completed the ODP Fast Track programme in 2003/4.
Beryl was elected to the PROPRIUS committee in 2003.
